Do you hold your wallet out of the water?

One of the things that I have learn from USANA is to take control of my finances. Although I have been a christian for a while now, this principle is new to me. God send USANA to my life, to show me the most fundamental principle of all, surrender all to God, including my finances. The more I surrender to God, the more HE blesses me with more.

What is a franchise? Can I own one?

According to the experts, the success of a franchise system is based upon 2 intangible principals: Consistency and Goodwill. This is true regardless of the product or service. By consistency, I mean that the customer can expect to have the same experience in every unit. A Big Mac is a Big Mac wherever you may be. The second element, goodwill refers to the fact that once the sign goes up above the door, customers will automatically be drawn to your store just by virtue of the fact that they’ve recognized the name and that they know what to expect from the customer experience. These elements must be present in any system you evaluate.

How do you know what's there? Pretend that you are a mystery shopper, visit several locations. Do they look the same? Is the staff trained in the same way? Did you have basically the same experience at them all? Keep in mind that there will be variations among different outlets to reflect the personalities of the individual the trade market area.

The Franchisor is a team of people who create, implement and manage the system for the benefit of the whole. When you buy a franchise you will be given extensive training in that field of expertise. You are expected to follow the rules. Remember, that’s why you bought a franchise in the first place. What you are buying is the system, tried and tested tools, and a less risky way to go in to business. The franchisor’s job is to give you the tools and yours is to use them. Inevitably, franchisees forget this and figure out a way to “do it better, cheaper…whatever”. It’s on that day that your results will suffer.

A business with small overhead

As an attorney, when I was presented the opportunity to have my own law firm, I grabbed it an ran with it. Little that I knew, the expenses that came with owning your own business. From employee salaries, to office supplies, the overhead grew larger every month. Our overhead has reached to $20,000 a month.

Many of my colleagues do not own their own law office, simply because they cannot afford the overhead. Have you set your 2009 goals yet?

Though it may seem some what crazy to be thinking about goals for 2009, these last days preceding the beginning of the new year are the perfect time to start declaring them. As the curtain closes on 2008, you should already be assessing the past events of the year and start thinking about how you can make the next year different. Setting goals now for 2009 allows you plenty of time to decide which goals you really want to achieve this new year. Conversely, we make the resolution that we are going to get out of debt, but again, with our jobs, its almost impossible to do. We do not have enough money to make this resolution a reality.

Moreover, we make the resolution that we are going to get in shape, get better health, eat right, but we go out onto the world, and its almost impossible to do. Every corner is bombarded with fast food restaurants and junk food. No wonder we are such an obese society.

As my wife and I play Santa at 4:30AM, we realize that in about 5 years, our oldest child will leave us for college, our middle child will be a teenager almost out of high school, and our little one will be a big sister to our newest baby been developed now. Understanding residual income

When you sale a product, or service, that has recurring monthly fees, this is known as residual income (also called passive, or recurring income) and is the best income to make, because it continues to be generated after the initial effort has been expended. USANA allow you to get residual income.

Compare this to what most people focus on earning: linear income, which is "one-shot" compensation or payment in the form of a fee, wage, commission or salary. This concept means that you only get pay for the hours that you work. Linear income is directly proportional to the number of hours invested in it (40 hrs. of pay for 40 hrs. of work)once that worked is paid for, no more income is expected, unless you work another 40 hours.

One of the great advantages of residual income is that once things are set in motion, you continue making money from your initial efforts, while gaining time to devote to other things... such as generating more streams of residual income.

If you are like I was, you work everyday for a company for a hourly wage. Your paycheck is dependent upon the exchange of your time for money. If you don't work on a given day, you don't get paid for that day, unless you have vacation or pay time off (PTO). If your job is to make stuff on an assembly line, you must make those stuff to get paid. If your job is to teach, then you must teach and so on...

What if you were the one who patented the stuff?

Then you would receive income over and over again any time someone made or bought one of your stuff. You don't have to make the stuff anymore, but you get paid every time someone buys a stuff. This is residual income. It is income that you make over and over again from work that was performed one time. Song writers know this concept well. The wealthy know this concept well, ans so should you!!!

Leveraged Income

A related concept to residual income is leveraged income. Leveraged income is similar in that it can be residual. More importantly, leveraged income is money that you make from other people's efforts. This forster an athmosphere of leadership and team work not seen on any other industry in the world.

To use the same stuff example, if you make stuff on an assembly line for your job, you have to do that to get paid. But if you were the one who patented the stuff or the technology to make the stuff, you would continually receive income every time someone made or bought one of your widgets.

Imagine that in addition to you working on the assembly line, you could train others to do the same work and make a percentage of each person's income that you trained? Read about a company that can make this possible for you!

For example, you work the assembly line and earn $1,000 each month. What if you could earn 10% of the income for each person you trained to do the same assembly-line work? You would do the work (training) one time and be paid over and over again (residual income that is leveraged via other people's work).

Suppose you trained ten new people each month, for three months. Your monthly income would begin to look like this:

1st month: You make $1,000 and each of the ten people you train earn $1,000. In addition, you earn 10% of their monthly income (10% of $1,000 = $100 x 10 people = $1,000 + your $1,000 = $2,000 total).

2nd month: You still make your $1,000, but now you have 20 people who each make $1,000. Your income is thus: 10% of $1000 = $100 x 20 people = $2000 + your $1,000 = $3,000 total).

3rd month: You still make your $1,000, but now you have 30 people who each make $1,000. Your income is thus: 10% of $1,000 = $100 x 30 people = $3,000 + your $1,000 = $4,000 total).

This is the beauty of leveraged and residual income. By your one act of training someone to do the work, you will get paid over and over again from their efforts, and again if they train someone else to do the work. This is what USANA can bring to you.

Recession proof income

According to economists, since 1854, the U.S.A. has encountered 32 cycles of expansions and contractions, with an average of 17 months of contraction and 38 months of expansion. However, since 1980 there have been only eight periods of negative economic growth over one fiscal quarter or more, and four periods considered recessions:

January-July 1980 and July 1981-November 1982: 2 years total
July 1990-March 1991: 8 months
March 2001-November 2001: 8 months
December 2007-December 2008: 11 months and counting*

* Note that this latest recession doesn't meet the traditional two quarter drop in GDP, yet it is considered a recession by the NBER.

From 1991 to 2000, the U.S. experienced 37 quarters of economic expansion, the longest period of expansion on record.

For the past three recessions, the NBER decision has approximately conformed with the definition involving two consecutive quarters of decline. However the 2001 recession did not involve two consecutive quarters of decline, it was preceded by two quarters of alternating decline and weak growth.
